THE
ELEPHANT'S NEST
Times
are hard for the Pattersons. Tom has recently not celebrated his
eighteenth birthday, when fortune smiles on him. He inherits a
nightclub in a remote seaside resort after his uncle is killed by
the local mob. The family move there, but discover that life in
Seathorpe is very different.
The family soon fall foul of the local mafia who, not content with
monopolising the drug scene, also extort protection money from all
the seafront venues. The newcomers refuse to pay the imposed levy,
resulting in retaliatory action by the thugs. Randy, the young
Jamaican deejay, takes the naive Tom under his wing, but tragedy
hits the family as they attempt to fight back.
Caroline remembers Randy. She wants more of the action she enjoyed
with him on her last visit. He is happy to oblige her, only later
discovering who she really is, and the girl Tom chooses to lose his
virginity with may not have been the wisest choice.
All is not well within the gang either as a leadership challenge
turns the resort into a nightmare town when more gunmen are imported
into this power struggle. Three of the younger members hold a
secret.
There are many twists and turns to this explosive, hard hitting
insight of a lifestyle that can really exist, before its unexpected
conclusion. Action packed, adult themes, and with strong language,
this is not one for the prudish.
